1798, in Barthomley, Cheshire, England:

[Name] [Father] [Mother] [born] [baptism]
John Son of Thomas Martin Mary Martin
Martin junior of Barthomley Daug: of Willm on Sunday on Tuesday
Miller Son of Thomas Rosson of Crewe the 18h of the 20th of
Martin of Barthomley Miller, by Mar- March March
Farmer by Sarah his tha his Wife -
No.231. Wife Daug: of Thomas
Tunstal of War-
rington Brazier

(I hope the columns come through OK.)

So it gives father, his profession and residence, _his_ father, _his_
profession, residence, and wife; mother, _her_ father, _his_ residence
profession and wife, and _her_ (wife's mother's) father and residence.
Oh, and just for completeness, DOB as well as of baptism - even the days
of the week!

Would that all records were that comprehensive!

(Unfortunately, I already had everything but the DOB, and Martha
Tunstall's father and his location.)

A lot of people think that being skinny is the happy ending, and its not.

Registers in this Dade-style were kept at St Helen's, Northwich,
Cheshire for many years which was very fortunate for me as I have
numerous relatives from that parish. The Burial Registers not only
include date of death but also cause of death, which can often make very
interesting reading...such as the man who was convicted of rape and
hanged at Chester Castle. (My friend, who had heard a talk about this
case told me why he was allowed to be buried at St Helen's and not at
the prison, but I forget now what the reason was.)

If it's the case I'm thinking of there were 3, Wilkinson Burgess and
Yarwood.

Bodies of those hanged for not-attaintable offences prior to a certain date
were returned to the family, i.e. not murder treason or a few other 'crimes
against the state'

So as residents of Northwich they would have been entitled to burial in the
parish church if their families wished.

Interesting. A miller marrying a miller's daughter. I've seen
inter-marriage of various milling families here, near Holmfirth.

One of my long-standing brick walls broke through just enough to get me
to the West Riding and a series of Dade registers - from being stuck in
the 1830s for 20-odd years, I was back to 1699! (and is all this info
transcribed on e.g. Family Search??? ;-) )

You're the second person to refer to this as "Dade". I'm interested.

I manually typed out this example, as I was just staggered to find it!
(I was using FindMyPast when I found it.)
