I managed to create a separate tree for my father, from my mother and
would like to combine the two. The help system seems not to provide any
clues how to go about it.

I should also like to download it to Win10, if possible, but again it
gives no clues about doing this.

Anyone know how please?

You cannot export a GEDCOM directly but you can do so using a program
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Talk:GEDCOM#Export_to_GEDCOM_-_is_it_disabled.3F

Regarding merging, is it possible to download them both and do a merge
in the external program. you can upload the revised tree to one of your
parents and can then either forget the other or possibly delete it?

There is help on merging within a tree.

If you add one parent to the other's tree do they then link?

Looking at my mother's tree, clicking the 'add spouse', then entering
the reference ID Number of my father, it shows in red 'This
relationship already exists' - thus preventing me from adding it.

I've always found the Support Staff at FamilySearch exceptionally
helpful and quick to respond, so I suggest you contact them with your
problem.

Yes I have asked them before, but the answers they gave were well
beyond my understanding..

OK, I think I know what has happened.

I have two trees saved in Familysearch - the main one with most of the
data, it includes both of my parents, but my mother's side seemed to be
hidden, but showing now.

The second one only has my mother's tree nothing else. Can I delete
this without the data in my main tree being lost? If so - How do I
delete it please?

I have downloaded Ancestris, is there some way to get the tree from
Familysearch and into Ancestris please?

Don't delete them, merge them.

Actually I think the delete function has been disabled, to prevent
datas loss in such cases.

If you look on the right hand side you will see "Possible Duplicates"
and then a place to enter the FamilySearch Id of a person to merge.

Enter the Id of the person, and you will be shown the information in
two columns, with the option to reject or replce the infor on the left
with that on the right.

You might find duplicate sets of parents or children, and if you copy
them across you can merge them later.
