I received an email today saying that Ancestry are removing the folders on
the Message Centre page. Yet another backwards step!
I'm sure others, like me, get messages from various contacts and it's the
best way to keep them in some sort of order. I presume that in future they
will only be saved in the way that Ancestry wants us to have them. Some
years ago, we used to be able to create on the home page, "favourite links"
to records that we used frequently. That went!
It seems that if it is useful, then they remove it to add something else.
Does anyone else feel that Ancestry is moving away from its original concept
of genealogy, i.e. searching and recording?

At the bottom of this page describing the new Messaging
https://support.ancestry.co.uk/s/article/Messaging-on-Ancestry
it says:
It's not currently possible to create folders in the new messaging
center, but you can download folders you already created to your
computer. You can download folders until 31 August, 2020.

So it seems there might be folders added at some time in the future (?)
but in the meantime they are giving you the option of downloading your
current folders.

Possibly you will be able to restore them in the future?

I saw that but cannot seen anywhere to download or how to move my
existing messages into folders that can be downloaded.

I don't have that option yet but will certainly do so once it appears on the
page.

I still have, and use regularly, 'My Quick Links' on my Ancestry Home Page?

Mine vanished years ago! Do you have to find it first or should it
automatically be there?

I am glad to hear that you can download your old messages, and I have
downloaded all of my old folders. However it seems like the inbox
folder is gone for good.

Is there a way to download the current messages that you send receive?

I thought I could trust Ancestry to keep the messages, but .....

SO: Now I will have to archive my messages on my computer, like I do
for all documents I need from Ancestry to support my research.

Hasn't gone for me! "My Quick Links" is still on the home page with an
"Add a link" button which still works.
