Does anyone know of a gedcom viewer that includes marriage dates in the
family view display boxes. All the ones I know of, only show Birth and
Death dates.
I like the Ancestry tree format and the ability it offers to scroll around
easily, and for sheer simplicity I still use "Simple Family Tree" for a
quick viewing!!
But I'm darned if I can find any that include the marriage date.

Brothers Keeper will show them, I've not so far imported a GedCom file but I
can see no reason that it would not (as long as the GedCom includes the
required dates)

and it's free (works on all windows from Win98 to Win10)

Well, it's shareware - the free download is supposed to be trial, and
has _some_ limitations (e. g., some output formats aren't available, and
there are some limitations on some numbers). It doesn't expire, though,
and the limitations probably would never impact a large number of
potential users. (I'd say its main limitation - for a new user! - is its
ridiculously old-fashioned look and way of working; some of its fans
probably would say gloriously so! [I do worry about the future income
stream, though - I think it _would_ put new users off, and we existing
users will die off in time.] The _support_ is pretty unparalleled - as
well as a good user group [mailing list which a good mail/news client
should be able to present as a newsgroup], the developer [John Steed]
pops up a lot, and will personally respond too [not sure if to unpaid
users].)

As a user of over 30 years, I can attest to that, I started on an old DOS PC,
and IIRC could print to an old A3 line printer (on fan feed paper) my whole
tree in one go, of cause now my tree is far larger and I don't have a line
printer any longer, but the options have improved ;->)

I'd love to know that list, although so far I have not needed one, it can never
hurt to chat with other BK users

You could be right, it's just one of those apps that sit for ages till I have a
moment to "try" to find more data, rest of the time I forget it's there

I either didn't know that, or have forgotten.
I only ever see that "when" I try to use some new or big feature (usually the
number of generation I want to output/print)

Is that sufficient? I'm afraid I can't remember how I subscribed! There may

I'll give it a go and see, I do have other groups.io lists

I use Ancestry and have done so for many, many years, with around 1600 names
going back to the mid 17th century. It does, of course import Gedcoms, and
I like its ability to scroll around easily. I just wish the boxes could show
the marriage date as well. I also have FMP at the moment but I don't like
its tree format (just a personal choice). As I said before, I also run
Simple Family Tree . It is very old and very basic but for quick reference
it is useful to have open alongside Ancestry. So, from the tree building
and research point of view, I am content with what I have. I was just
looking for a Gedcom "VIEWER" that would show all three B M D in the box.

One that I have, but haven't used much, is Dynastree. I think it is a
genealogy program, but it uses Gedcom as as its native file format.

I installed it, and I can attest to " its ridiculously old-fashioned
look and way of working". As to limitations, yes, it does limit quite
a few features that I would want. I use Simple Family Tree for most of
my entries as it will show me very large groups of people on one
screen... and will instantly switch to other views. It also allows
opening multiple windows to compare times and groups. (I have over
1600 entries so far, some dating back to 1000 and further.) It allows
one image..linked to a file which I store in the SFT folder.

If I wish to add more data and/or images, I do have a couple other
programs. The most clear & useful is https://www.ahnenblatt.com/...
which has a limited 'fee' version plus a trial and a full paid
version.
SFT has a couple of issues with entry format...especially back before
clear & distinct surnames (1400 or so and before) and with titles, as
it alphabetizes on the last part... thus "Bardolf fitz Eudes, Lord of
Ravensworth" will appear in the "list of individuals" under '
Ravensworth' when you'd rather it be Eudes or Bardolf.... and John
Jones III will appear as III, requiring John III Jones. I deal with
it. Then, dates before 1000 must be preceded by a 0... so I have
Geoffroy I, duc de Bretagne as 0980-1008.
I began this way about 6 years ago, and re-doing it all in a more
complex, paid program is far too daunting at my age.

(I did have another program which, on startup, checked everything for
format and missing dates...etc. I have so many where various dates are
not known that I just monitor things myself.)

I live in the USA with some ancestors from the early colonies, so
fully 90% of my ancestry goes back to England, with a few French,
Dutch and Scottish links. This is the only group that seems to discuss
anything related to my lines.. so I just mostly lurk.

Of course most genealogy PROGRAMS will IMPORT a Gedcom file and show
marriage dates, but the only ones that would answer this question are
ones that use the GEDCOM as their natve file format, and there are a
few of those, but they are very few.

The question was not about IMPORTING a GEDCOM file, but about READING
one, and Brother's Keeper does not do that, because GEDCOM is NOT its
native file format.

I haven't used it myself, but this might be interesting

https://www.gedsite.com/en/index.htm

"GedSite creates web pages from a GEDCOM file. It generates
either narrative or grid style person pages, a master index, a
surname index, source pages, and any other pages you wish to add.
You can review the site on your own PC before you share it with
anyone. You can publish it on the web, or distribute it via a DVD
or flash drive."

I have used some of the developer's other products, and found
them to be really useful. He gives great support on related mail
lists.
