I found an entry on find-A-Grave for some people who appear on my tree,
but some of the information is, I believe, wrong and I'd like to contact
the contributor. who does mention making direct contect via his/her
profile. The only way of doing this that I can see is a "Send Message"
button, but clicking on this brings up a message "You need a Find A
Grave account to add things to this site." (I don't want to add to the
site, I want to contact the contributor, but presume this is the way to
do it.)

I have not previously registered on this site but when I attempted to do
so, having filled in all the requisite fields, I got no result when I
tried to click the "Create Account" button.

Does anyone know am I doing the right thing to contact the contributor
and how do I register on the website if "Create Account" doesn't work?

Have you tried leaving Feedback (bottom right of home page) or sending a
message to ***@findagrave.com regarding the error or you
registration problem?

On the page of the person, go to the bottom and find Created by: with
the name of the person.
The next line is the date added, followed by the Find A grave Memorial
number.

If you click on the person who created the sites name, it brings up a
way to send them a message.

That is different. I have used that to contact people in the past, so
Ancestry must have made it more difficult to contact the contributors.

Probably a security problem as with the rootsweb sites.

I don't think it'll be Ancestry: usually if Ancestry links to
FindAGrave, it dumps you into the FindAGrave website (warning you that
it's doing so); thereafter, you're not under Ancestry's control any
more.

Thanks everyone. Sorry to say it turned out to be me having a senior
moment: it seems I was already registered with the site.

Some bad design (or execution) though. There could have been a message
to tell me I was already registered. Clicking on "Show Password" didn't
show password being entered on neither Chrome nor Edge. When I tried
"Reset Password" to see if I was registered the message was "we'll send
you an e-mail if your address is on the system" so if I hadn't received
an e-mail I wouldn't have known if it was because I wasn't registered or
because the e-mail just hadn't arrived.

Interestingly the Capcha behaved quite differently on Chrome and on
Edge. On Chrome the symbol just twirled a bit and then ticked. On Edge
it required me to select some pictures.

Not necessarily a Chrome/Edge difference: I think these things work at
random (or something else, like maybe counting your visits) - i. e. you
may get the other behaviour from the other browser another time. I use
mostly Chrome where I see captchas (my old preferred Firefox just can't
handle most of them at all), and I've seen both the just-tick and the
select-pictures. [Mind you, the pictures are always of US scenes -
roadsigns especially; it's be nice to see the odd UK or EU one (-:!]

Now, don't worry. We'll be right behind you. Hiding. (First series, fit the

When I get a button on a web page that doesn't do anything, I try a
different browser (first copying, into Notepad+, anything lengthy that
I've filled in in a box). I usually find that works - it was just that
something in a hidden script doesn't work properly in one or other
browser. (I find it a lot since my preferred browser is quite an old
version of Firefox.)

If it still doesn't work, it can be some host you're blocking in your
hosts file, if you use that method of blocking.

That seems to be Ancestry.com policy.

I sometimes find a link that goes to something on their site, and I
see the info I'm looking for momentarily, but before I can read it
it's covered ny a notice saying something to the effect that my user
experience will be improved if I use a different browser.
