Message for Chris Codrington

Thank you for the updates here regarding pre 1800 activity of your family.
I am currently doing some research for the Govt of Antigua and Barbuda (Dept of Environment) regarding the early environmental attributes and sociocultural aspects of Barbudan history and heritage. You would be interested to know that the Codringtons are fondly remembered by Barbudans. there has been substantive archaeological work done on the ruins of the castle (foundations only, located in the village of Codrington) and Highlands House, to the NE.
Happy to share these with you or any one in this forum if there is interest.

Hi

I noticed your message is 8 year old but I hope this reaches you and hopefully get in contact.

I am currently working on my family tree and there could be strong links that I am related to the Codrington you describe. You have also mentioned the surname jones that is also on my tree.

My personal email is ***@live.co.uk where you are best to contact me.

I hope to hear from you.

Start with your parents birth certificates.

It doesn't sound as though you have done any research at all.

If your parents are still alive, it would be useful if you could find
out more details of the dates of birth, death, marriages, places of your
grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. Some public records are withheld from
access for 100 years or more.

You should try to work back from today as far back as you can with
resources and knowledge you or your relatives already might have. Then
continue to work back in time once you start looking other data.

Put "how to do genealogy research" into an internet search and start
looking at some of the guides you will find there. They should give you
background in how to start out on your research.

Then put "barbados births marriages death records" into an internet
search and you should get some useful links to that data. Some of it is
likely to be free but some of it is probably only available from
services you have to pay for (compiling and indexing information and
then creating searchable databases information has a cost).

It is certainly unlikely to be as simple as it usually appears to be on
television programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are? I've been
researching some twenty years or more and am still hoping one day I
might find information on 3rd and 4th great-grandparents!

The other way is to pay a professional genealogist researcher...
